HADRIAN’S WALL WALK CHALLENGE

It gives us great pleasure to announce the total amount raised from the Hadrians wall challenge was a massive £1,588!

It’s an amount that did not come easy, seeing our founder; Paul Spence and Mike Smith from Cobus communications walk an incredible 90 miles to complete the 3 day West to East of the fundraising trek.

Neither of them had ever walked that distance previously but had taken up the challenge to support our cause. The plan was to complete the walk in 3 days…….a big ambition as its usually takes between 4 and 8 days.

We were overwhelmed to see them receive great support from local businesses with big names getting behind them from the start with sponsored T-Shirt’s and a Support car.

The guys headed to Bowness on Solway on the west of the country to start the gruelling challenge.

They were well supported on route with a kind sponsor from KRL Group for three nights accommodation during the challenge. They also had a first aid kit donated by OPB Sports Therapy. Good job as Mikes feet were soon feeling the strain.

But he pushed through the pain, on they went across the Pennines.

The rain came down but it didn’t dampen their spirits, they plodded on to support the brain injured.

It was 12 hours constant walking for the guys, with only a few 10 min breaks throughout the day. It hadn’t been flat ground either, some difficult terrain made their mission even more difficult.

They proudly flew our charity flag high across the country.

At the end of day two the guys were tired but focused on completing the mission. A late finish at 9 o clock meant it was onto the pub for a quick bite to eat then bed and ready to walk again at 6 a.m

Exhausted but still smiling at over 80 miles, the lads had Newcastle in there sights!

Thumbs up as they reached the river Tyne. They were nearly at the end! A total of 185,000 steps had been made so far.

Through Newcastle they went and onto Wallsend.

Mission complete, they had accomplished  Hadrian’s wall walk. Tired but ecstatic they celebrated their achievement!

They were keen to applaud the companies that had supported them along the way. Both were happy to see the support car and head home to put their feet up!

A massive thank you and well done to both Paul and Mike. We salute you on your courageous effort! Thanks to all the sponsors, business and personal who helped make this event such a success.

Your support is really appreciated by everyone at PAUL For Brain Recovery! You are helping us to make life easier after brain injury.
